EVERY-day Week Pattern #4: Toasty Waffle Henley

Photography by Sara Parker

Yes, yes, you guessed it!  The third (and final) piece of the Waffle group is a coordinating sweater.

I have always loved stripes and a polo-style collar (ahem, see Jesse Polo, Gentleman’s Polo, Summer Vest even…).  The twist on this sweater is the layers.  The long-sleeved portion is worked first in waffle, then joined to the striped short sleeves that are worked in to match the rest of the top!

A stockinette roll is worked for the hem on the short sleeves and the bottom, and also on the collar.  I’ve added extra length into the sleeves and the body to help it stay with your growing child even longer. Sleeves can be flipped down for more length.

The design is seamless and worked bottom-up in the round, then back and forth once the placket is formed.  Cute buttons can really personalize this knit. Consider working the hems in contrasting color too like shown on Charlie (blue & green version).

This is the conclusion of the waffle portion of this week’s releases :) But the party is NOT over!  Friday’s pattern might just be my favorite of the bunch, and there is a yarn giveaway included too (in case you’d forgotten).

But first, congratulations are in order to raelynne01 & jlpudsey! I have e-mailed both the winners their complementary patterns.  You can also both e-mail me back and include your Ravelry ID and I’ll be happy to use Ravelry’s gifting features so that you also have them available in your libraries.

And here’s the last time I have to say this> To be eligible for the final giveaway tomorrow, you must be subscribed to my mailing list. 3 final giveaways happen tomorrow-2 freebie patterns plus a yarn+pattern giveaway of O-Wool Balance which is used in tomorrow’s release! There are also several ways you can better your chances to win tomorrow and you have less than 24 hours in which to do them.  Here they are one more time.

  1. You must be a member of my mailing list to be eligible.
  2. You can gain up to 2 bonus entries by leaving blog comments on any of this week’s pattern releases (one entry per comment).
  3. You can gain up to 3 bonus entries by tweeting or retweeting about the giveaway once a day, use the tag #owoolEVERYday
  4. You can gain a final additional entry by being a member of the Tot Toppers & When I Grow Up Ravelry group, and posting your anticipated color choice of O-Wool Balance in this thread.
  5. Any of this “activity” for bonus entries must be completed by midnight TODAY (St. Patrick’s Day!) March 17th

In sum, you do not have to do ANYTHING in addition to being a mailing list subscriber to be entered, but you CAN do some extra stuff to better your chances. Good luck to everyone! I will also tell you that the pattern is unisex, and it is sized from 6 months to 8.

This is my favorite so far this week! I love the layered look on boys. I also love the stripes and the collar in addition to the waffle-weave knit. Very sporty and “all boy”. Thank you!

I’m so glad you’ve got these in sizes up to 6, will be making this for my little guy for sure. He LOVES his Boys Can Wear Pink shirt.

I love the features that allow room for growth in this. It’s so frustrating to spend the time on making something, and then have it be outgrown in one season.

I usually knit hats, but will most certainly try this pattern. I wish the sizes were for up to size 8, my grandsons are getting bigger!
