Knits for Boys Errata

Errata page: Knits for Boys

Go to Errata for Tot Toppers / Grown / Knits for Boys

The Knits for Boys book was scoured and edited and knitted and it was my sincerest hope that no errata would be found. Please note: This book went into a second printing in 2016 and errata found prior to that date was corrected.

Big Bad Vest
Page 127: The bottom of the vest is actually worked in a 2×2 Rib, but the only rib listed in the pattern is 1×1. To match the sample shown: *K2, p2; rep from * to end of round. Repeat for each round of hem.
Page 128: “Neckline” instructions are incorrect. Replace with:
Place 30 (30, 32, 32, 24) back neck sts on needle ready to work RS. Using smaller needles and C, knit across these sts. Pick up and knit 26 (26, 27, 27, 29) sts on the left side of the neckline, pm at center front neck, pick up and knit 26 (26, 27, 27, 29) sts on the right side of the neckline. Place marker and join to work in the round. 82 (82, 86, 86, 92). Work Dec Rib as instructed in pattern. Final st count before BO is 74 (74, 78, 78, 84) sts.

Page 36: Before joining in the round, DO turn your work so that RS is facing. The instruction do not turn should be removed. Make sure you are knitting the round with RS facing before working the join.

Comfy Shorts

Library Cardigan
Page 51: 2 needles sizes are listed in the pattern information but only one size is actually needed to knit this sweater. The sample was worked on Size 7 (4.5) mm needles. Use whatever size needles you need to get gauge throughout the entire project.
Page 52: Wrong side rows in the decrease section should be worked in rib pat NOT purled.

Jake Jacket
Page 88: Body, after working Rib for 7 rows, you should be ready to work a RS row NOT a WS row.

Jesse Polo
Page 93: Sleeves, sizes 5 & 10 ONLY, work Crossover Rib slightly differently than for hem as follows:
Rnd 1 (Rib): *K2, p2; rep from * around.
Rnd 2: *X2, p2; rep from * around.
Rnds 3-5: Work in Rib.
Rnd 6: *X2, p2; rep from * around.
Rnds 7-9: Work in Rib.

Outdoorsy Sweater
Page 47: Top of second column. Do not knit the final WS row after increases are completed. Replace line with:
“Work last 4 rows twice, work the first three rows once more and do not turn…”

Prepster Vest
Page 99: Row 2 of Neckline shaping for both fronts should end with “k2” NOT “k1.” Then, work Right Front and Left Front Neckline Shaping a total of 10 times (ALL SIZES). Continue with final Row 1 decrease as directed, ending with stitch counts as written.

Striated Crew
Page 40: “Next Row” front cast-on instructions should say: CO 15 (18, 20, 22, 22) sts, [k to marker, M1R, sm, k1, sm, M1L] four times, k to end of row, join to work in the round, being careful not to twist sts, k to fourth marker, place marker for end of round. [stitch count is correct].
Page 40: Separate Body & Sleeves
Next Rnd: [K to marker, remove marker, sl next 40 (42, 44, 46, 50) sts to holder removing markers, CO 4 (4, 6, 6, 6) sts] twice, k to end of round.
Page 41: Neckline should be worked in D, NOT A, to match sample shown.

Winston Henley
Page 114: Follow the italicized instructions for slipping the first and last sts on WS rows and knitting them on RS rows. Do not slip sts on RS rows.
Page 115: After “Switch to B and smaller needles.”
